Capping is a fee that is paid by non-subscribers for a day of hunting.
ECH allows guests to cap up to 3 times per year. If you are interested in Hunting and would like to try it, capping is ideal. For more information contact Mrs. Tina Walker: email@example.com
Capping Fees are $80 for Mondays and Wednesdays, and $100 for Saturdays. Opening Meet Capping Fee is $140. Junior and intermediate fees are $40 for Mondays and Wednesdays, and $50 for Saturdays. Be prepared to arrive at the fixture with enough time, at least half an hour before “moving off”. This allows you to give your payment and signed waiver to the Field Secretary. The Field Secretary will introduce you to the Masters of the Meet.
If it is your first time hunting or new to your mount, it may be wise to join the Second Field or Hilltoppers. This is a safe introduction to hunting. Of course, if you have had experience and you feel your horse is familiar in the Field, is an able jumper and comfortable around the hounds, you may join the First Field.
ECH now has a hireling horse available to enable those new to hunting to first try it on a safe horse, one well experienced in hunting to hounds. Of course, this option is also available to members who are without their regular mounts for any reason, or social members who wish to come out a few times during the season.
The hireling horse is booked on a first come/first serve basis, at least a week in advance of the proposed hunt day. We will bring the horse to the meet, groomed, tacked up and ready to provide a great day’s adventure. Especially when you are new to this sport, it is great to have a horse that knows the drill. That way you can concentrate on what you are doing, seeing, and just take in the wonderful spectacle that you are now part of.
The fee for this is $140.00 per hunt, in addition to the cap fee. A waiver will need to be signed for insurance purposes. You should be at the meet location 45 minutes before the start time.
